FAQs
Lifeguarding Recertification Course
Q: Do I need to provide my current lifeguard certification to complete a lifeguard refresher class?
Yes. Without proof of current certification, you cannot take the refresher class. Please email a copy of your certification card to us at laura.clark@chicagoland-pmg.com.
Q: Do I have to take the Recertification class before my existing certification expires?
Yes. You can only take the Recertification class if your current certifications are still valid. Certifications must be valid on or before the last day of the Recertification Course.
Q: My current certification expires before the Recertification course, what should I do?
You should look for a recertification class that begins before your certification expires. If you can't find one and your certification expires, then you'll have to take the Lifeguarding: Full Certification course again.
Q: What if I can’t make it to all classes?
To get recertified you must attend 100% of the classes. If you don't, you won't be recertified, and no refund will be given.
Q: What is your Cancellation / Transfer Policy?
Once you have paid for the lifeguard class, you have reserved your spot in the class. When the first day of class has begun, there will be no refunds. If the first day of class has not begun, you may move your registration to another lifeguarding class offered by Chicagoland Pool Management in the same year. We ask that if changing classes, you give a minimum of 1 weeks’ notice. If 1 week notice is not given, there might be an additional fee up to $25 charged for moving classes. Additionally, a refund will be given if a written cancellation is made 1 week before the class begins.”
Q: Can I choose my pool location/assignment if I come work for you?
If there is a position still available at that pool, absolutely.
Q: Do I have to buy a textbook?
No. All required books and supplies are included in the cost of the course.
